Parish Council support for the Montgomery Canal

The 2025 Annual Meeting of Llanymynech & Pant Parish Council saw a cheque for £1,000 being donated to the appeal to restore the Montgomery Canal.

The Annual Meeting heard from John Dodwell and Tom Fulda who talked about the history of the canal and the current works to restore it.

Montgomery Canal group invites new volunteers to Open Day

A community group that runs Llanymynech Canal Wharf on the Montgomery Canal straddling the border between England and Wales is inviting people to come along and find out about volunteering opportunities.

The group welcomes hundreds of local people and tourists to their visitor centre and trip boat each summer and are interested in meeting people who would like to volunteer during the year.

The Friends of the Montgomery Canal – or Friends as we like to call them – is the membership section of Montgomery Waterway Restoration Trust.

Crickheath work party report February 2025

The winter programme of environmental works by Shropshire Union Canal Society volunteers south of Crickheath Bridge on the Montgomery Canal is now complete.

Some 170 metres of channel has been cleared of scrub, 720 hedging whips have been planted and a further 74 metres of hedge has been laid.
