Thanks to everyone who took part in the Grand Raffle 2024 to raise funds for the continuing restoration of the Montgomery Canal.
The three winning tickets were drawn by Cllr Joyce Barrows at the first Shropshire Union Canal Society (SUCS) workparty in November.
The winner was a supporter from Chesham, in Buckinghamshire. She bought her ticket while boating on the Llangollen Canal in the summer and so enjoyed it that she will be coming to the canal again next year. She has very kindly donated £50 from her prize back to the appeal.
The second prize was won by one of the SUCS volunteers, working on the canal.
The third prize was won by a former secretary of SUCS.
The Grand Raffle was just one of numerous fundraising approaches to support the restoration of the Montgomery Canal and to close the ‘Shropshire Gap’ between Crickheath and Llanymynech on the Welsh border.
