You are cordially invited to the Montgomery Canal Forum at 2.30pm on Friday 4 April, 2025 at Hafan Yr Afon, Newtown SY16 2NH.
Presentations this year will cover developments on the Montgomery Canal in Powys and Shropshire and plans for its future.
This year, the Forum will featire a number of presentations looking at current plans for the Montgomery Canal.
These will look at:
• Restoration in Shropshire where volunteers are restoring the section which has been derelict for eighty years
• The Restore the Montgomery Canal! appeal which has raised over £1 million from private individuals, companies and charitable trusts
• Restoration in Powys where the multi-million pound Levelling-Up project is building new bridges and safeguarding ecology with new nature reserves
• Boating into the Future from the Inland Waterways Association’s Sustainable Boating Group.
The Forum is open to anyone interested in the restoration and development of the Montgomery Canal with its social, economic and environmental benefits for present and future generations.
There will be an opportunity to discuss any issue concerning the future of the Montgomery Canal and what it can contribute to the area.
